Charleston, SC! Charleston was recently voted the top tourist destination in the world, beating out Florence, Italy and Cape Town, South Africa. Carolinas Healthcare Public Relations & Marketing Society (CHPRMS) is hosting their fall conference in historic Charleston. And though CHPRMS is an excellent opportunity to network with our healthcare peers and providers, Contrast Creative also plans to spend time exploring the most beautiful city in the world with new friends and colleagues. Here are some of Contrast Creative’s favorite things to do in Charleston – all within walking distance of our lovely home base, the Francis Marion Hotel.
#10 The Old City Market is our favorite place to experience the southern charm of local vendors and artists and do some truly unique holiday shopping.
#9 Pavilion Bar & Café gives you a spectacular view of downtown Charleston and its harbor. Set against a backdrop of cascading fountains and decorative fiber-optic lights, this is a great place to go for a round of drinks with new friends.
# 8 Hank’s Seafood Restaurant resembles an old Charleston fish house straight out of the 1940’s serving local, classic cuisine. Charleston City Paper has named Hank’s the Best Seafood Restaurant for 13 years running for good reason.
#7 Ghostwalk Tours offers an eerie journey into Charleston’s haunted past while strolling through 18th and 19thcentury neighborhoods in the historic district. Walks are at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. making this a be-witching after-hours activity.
#6 Magnifilous Toy Emporium will help you find that perfect holiday gift for the little one you left behind. Fun has no age limits in this toy store that boasts a 7 ft. gumball machine and a 9 ft. giraffe.
# 5 Old Towne Carriage Company hosts horse drawn sleigh rides in December that will help you ride in style while exploring Charleston’s historic architecture and city streets.
#4 Tommy Condon’s Irish Pub and Seafood Restaurant is crafted to feel like a true Irish Pub with live Irish music playing Wednesday through Sunday nights. Tommy’s also boasts 20 beers on tap and 15 different kinds of local and craft beer bottles making it the perfect casual meeting place.
#3 King Street Shopping has something for everyone on your list. The upper district focuses on design and dining, the middle district centers on fashion, while the lower district is filled with art and antiques. Shop ‘til you drop.
has a wide variety of fresh desserts highlighted in the case at their front door. Window shopping has never been more fun. In addition they have a full beer, wine and liquor selection and stay open until the wee hours. You know where the Contrast team will be!
